Finding Joy

One of my most favorite quotes is “Art is a wound turned into light,” by Georges Braque. When something is painful, we tend to hold it in. It may stew and simmer inside us for awhile eating at other parts that were once whole, but then upon release we are able to heal again. Find your light and find your joy. Find what makes your heart and soul sing again. It may be another person but also look within. Tend to your soul and close those old wounds. Those wounds have served their purpose making us into the people we are today. For this I am personally grateful.

The hustle and bustle of everyday business as usual caused me to live my life on rewind. Get up, go to work, busy busy busy, come home, tend to kids, more work but in the form of chores and responsibilities, go to bed and start it all over again; basically work, eat, sleep, repeat. Then the pandemic happened. Most of us were not prepared. Neither was I even though my intuition tugged at my gut months prior. I would literally drive home from work with a gnawing feeling of impending doom. News of what was happening in China and then Italy brought me to tears daily. Living in the Northeast of the United States, the virus hit us fast and hard. During lockdown and self-quarantine, it occurred to me, what if we use this time to do all those things, we never had time to do before.  And so, it begun…

Spoken like a true mother…I have two fabulous kids. Tommy, a Senior in College and Amanda a Senior in High School. One night to pass the time indoors, we painted miniature canvasses, together as a family. The moment my brush touched the canvas, I was swept into a world of meditative peace. With each brush stroke I felt my jaw unclench, my shoulders relax and so on. The troubles of the outside world escaped me, even if only for the moment. While painting I was peaceful and happy, not to mention ever so thankful to have found this time with my family. So then guess what happened…

I began painting like crazy, teeny tiny canvasses, larger ones, rocks, cards. Anything I could get my hands on because remember we were in quarantine. No matter the materials I used, the result was still the same…peace. The more I created, the more I healed and the more I found peace. I was slowly learning how to find joy again. It was only a matter of time that I then incorporated my love of gemstones with my creations.

I created mini, magical Gem Jar offerings, each with an inspirational message inside reminding us to find our rainbow after the rain. I handmade all these Gem Jars with the intention of spreading more light into the world. Like all my creations, I lovingly infused each jar with Reiki healing energy in combination with intuitive crystal healing properties. The Gem Jars are beautifully adorned both on the top of the lid and inside each jar with natural crystals, such as Amethyst, Fluorite, Strawberry Quartz, Chalcedony, and natural Turquoise. Also, an inspirational message sits inside each jar along with an antique bronze charm, “Live Your Dream,” tied by a jute ribbon. Live your dream has a nice ring to it and that is exactly what I am doing. I hope you choose to live yours too! Find your light and what fills your heart with joy!

Love & Light,
